Our Research Laboratory
Further to the research initiated at our Adult CF Day Centre, our program is additionally supported by our basic research laboratory, also situated on the grounds of Cork University Hospital. Established thanks to generous philanthropic support, the laboratory operates in keeping with our philosophy of bench-to-bedside, bedside-to-bench care.
Managed on a day-to-day basis by our research scientist, the laboratory is fully equipped to process and biobank patient samples, which are subsequently used in translational research studies. These studies allow us to gain a better understanding of the inflammatory changes as well as fluctuations in the lung and gut bacteria in response to the latest CFTR modulator therapies. Data from the CF research laboratory contributes to our publications and presentations at a national and international level.
